RAISING FUNDS TO RAISE THE ROOFS
By CHC
2022 has been a great year for grants in that we were awarded three separate grants totaling over $1.2 million.
First was the City Development Block Grant that came through the City of Albany. The second was the SB5611 Homeless Grant that came through the State, and the final one was the Congressional Spending Grant facilitated by Jeff Merkley’s office. These grants will fund a quarter of the cost of the village.
The outcome of two outstanding grant applications for the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Scharpf Family foundation will be known at the beginning of 2023. We are looking for $2.1 million total from those sources, the bulk of which will come from OHA. Having raised $1.1 million towards our goal from a state grant and fundraising, these funds will put us less than $500,000 away from our total projected costs.
Thanks to the leadership of Danielle Hutchinson, CHC Grant Chair since August of 2021, we have overcome the hurdles of grant applications. We would also like to thank city employees Anne Catlin and Beth Freelander, who steadily guided us through the environmental assessment process, and Michael Couch, who encouraged and pointed us in the right direction.
